My name is Anthony Nieves, I studied jazz at BMCC, got my associates degree and am going to attend City College of New York to get my Bachelors degree in jazz studies. When I’m not at school, I’m teaching at a place called School of Rock, playing with my jazz band (Mind-Builders), practicing, producing new music, learning etc. and I enjoy ALL of it! What I look to do with teaching, is to help shape the future for musicians. I want to help those who love music that you can chase what you love and make a living out of it. I started to become a musician because of my mother. She asked me, “what do you want to do with your life?” I always carry that with me. I’m not a musician because I care about fame or money. I’m a musician because I want to give the world a bit of hope and show others that even though it’s a scary world, there’s a bit of light within it.
